Another round of wintry weather is expected across Eastern and Southern Kentucky over the next couple of days.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Pulaski County, Breathitt County, Menifee County, Powell County, Whitley County, Laurel County, Floyd County, Martin County, Perry County, Johnson County, Morgan County, Knott County, Magoffin County, Lee County, Estill County, Clay County, Wolfe County, Montgomery County, McCreary County, Bath County, Leslie County, Wayne County, Rockcastle County, Bell County, Owsley County, Knox County, Jackson County, Rowan County from Friday evening at 6pm until 12pm Saturday. A Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect for Pike County, Harlan County, Letcher County from Friday evening at 6pm until 5pm Saturday evening.
Winter Weather Advisory
The precipitation looks to initially begin as a rain/snow mix Friday afternoon before going over to all snow Friday evening. Those snow showers will continue through the overnight hours and into Saturday. Before the snow ends, a general 1-3″ of snow is possible in the advisory areas with as much as 4″ possible in the highest elevations of Pike, Harlan, and Letcher Counties.
Possible Accumulation Friday Evening – Saturday Evening
Roads will become very slick as temperatures drop well below freezing. As a matter of fact, I do not expect highs Saturday to break out of the 20′s with teens expected Saturday night. If skies clear out enough with snow on the ground, some single digit readings can not be ruled out. Winds will also be gusty making it feel even colder.
I will be watching things through the night and will have more if there are any changes.
