Light snow fell through the overnight hours dropping a couple of inches of snow in some spots. Expect slick roads area wide this morning so allow for plenty of extra travel time as you head off to work. The snow showers will continue to fall through tonight.
The NWS did make a few changes to the Winter Weather Advisory expiration times.
Winter Weather Advisory
For Fleming, Montgomery, Bath, Rowan, Estill, Powell, Menifee, Rockcastle, Jackson, Elliott, Morgan, Wolfe, and Lee Counties, the advisory now runs until noon.
For Laurel, Knox, Bell, Harlan, Johnson, Magoffin, Floyd, Breathitt, Knott, Owsley, Perry, Clay, Leslie, Letcher, Martin, and Pike Counties, the advisory will expire at 7pm this evening.
Today’s snow will be the off and on variety. A few snow squalls could drop visibility and add a quick layer of snow to the roads so keep that in mind. Track any snow using the radar and webcams below.
I still feel pretty good with the map I put out last night for Wednesday. Most of us could see another 1-2″ of snowfall. Higher elevations in Harlan, Letcher, Pike, and Bell Counties could see another 3″ before all is said and done late tonight.
On top of the snow, cold temperatures and gusty winds will keep things on the chilly side. Wind chills in the single digits are likely at times. Track that here:
That should be all you need to get your day going. I will have an update by noon with a few snow totals.
Another storm will eye us over the weekend and into next week, possibly bringing a chance of snow this weekend. I will talk more about that in this evenings full update.
Be careful and have a good day.
